Wollongong Couple Rescue Dudley the Pig from Slaughter

Wollongong couple Stacey Calder and Jessy Creer rescued a pig after a Gumtree farmer advertised pigs for slaughter. Dudley, now 160kg, lives in a large pen in the couple’s backyard.

Calder, a vegetarian with ambitions of becoming a veterinary nurse, refers to Dudley as her best friend. However, she often has to compete for Dudley’s attention when their dog Sirius is around.

“Dudley and Sirius love each other. Dudley will often cry when he isn’t around,” Calder said.

Adopting a pig has been a challenging but rewarding experience for the young couple.

“I’d love my own farm to rescue more animals,” Creer said.

“If only we could win the lotto.”
